I’m Christopher. I handmake these works in my Nottinghamshire photographic darkroom. Each piece begins with scorched glass and ends in a silver gelatine print. Every piece is a one-of-a-kind original abstract artwork.

MADE ONCE

The process is slow, physical and impossible to repeat, and over time, the way each piece is seen begins to shift. New details emerge. Familiar ones fall away. It becomes something that grows with you rather than simply something you look at.

MADE TO MATTER

I wrote a short book about the objects we choose to surround ourselves with. It explores why some things carry genuine presence, and others simply fill space, and what it means to bring something irreplaceable into your home. That decision is more straightforward than it sometimes feels. It's free to download.
