NOVA

NOVA Series (2025)

NOVA is a meditation on the paradox of collapse as creation, inspired by the phenomenon of a supernova—a star’s explosive death that becomes its most luminous moment. In this instant of destruction, there is a bloom of energy and light, a vivid expression of beauty entirely within the act of disintegration. It shifts the idea that destruction must precede creation, revealing instead that the collapse itself is the bloom.

This series was an exercise in restraint for Christopher. Solely using isopropyl alcohol during the glass scorching process allowed for the creation of more refined and delicate textures, bringing a quieter, introspective energy to the prints.

NOVA also speaks to something innately human. We all experience moments where the structures of our lives collapse—relationships, plans, or even identities—but within these moments lie opportunities for renewal. Like the supernova, it is often in the breaking apart that we find our most radiant selves. This series invites viewers to reflect on their own encounters with impermanence, finding beauty not in what comes after, but in the act of falling apart itself.

NOVA comprises ten pieces, each exploring the beauty within collapse through its unique interplay of texture and form.
